How to create your own fonts

Typography means art and technique of making new fonts. And even though you are unaware of this art, you can still create your own fonts. Despite of being unaware of all the coding involved in designing brand new fonts, FontStruct is a web service which allows you to design your own font.

FontStruct is actually a free web application that allows you to design your own font using the concept of geometrical identities arranged in a grid base. The terms might sound a bit technical, but using this application is dead easy.

To get started with it, you first need to sign up with the web service. Once you have done the registration, you can use that ID and password to login to the website and then click on “Create New FontStruction”. Later you need to follow all the instructions, step by step.

First step is to choose a name for your font and then click on next page where you can find small graphs. You can use those graphs to design your own font by simply extending few lines, which can be done by your mouse. You need to follow this procedure to design all the alphabets and numbers.

Once you are done with the process, you will be supplied with your font in .zip format with a license document and read me file.
