Cut removes an item while copy, makes a copy of the selected item.
Here's some more info on cut, copy, paste.
What is the difference between cut-n-paste and copy-n-paste?

What program are you trying to cut in? If it something like a webpage, you cannot remove the content via cut, only copy it.
