hi hondo,

try installing Windows Defender - its an antvirus/antimalware app from Microsoft.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...r/default.mspx

When you have Windows Defender installed on your computer, open it and update Windows Defender. Windows Defender will then detect that your Windows System update feature has been disabled (possibly by previous malware). Windows Defender will fix your computer's update problem and will allow it to update.

You get two benefits with using Windows Defender
1. you solve the windows update problem
2. you get a second layer of effective antimalware/antivirus protection

hope this helps
