Default remove Win32.Pinfi virus

I have a free trial version of Norton AntiVirus 2004. When I do a system scan, I keep getting Win32.Pinfi virus and can only quarantine the infected file. Short of deleting the file the virus is found in, how can i delete the infection? BTW I am using Wndows XP SP2 and Norton is the only active AV program I have installed at the moment.
Can you recommend a better AV for free, or one that will delete the virus without having to delete the infected file?
