I purchased a copy of cd/dvd lock and have tried to install it 3 times and keep getting the same error message everytime: Parameter is Incorrect.

Can ANYOne tell me why? What I am trying to do is make my DVD's unable to be copied. Is there ANOTHER way?

What are you doing to install the program?

I am not familar with it but when a paremter is wrong message pops up it is in reference to a script error of some sort....
This could be as simple as not having ennogh digits in your password or using the wrong symbols in your password....or by simply haing the program try to install it to the wrong directory.....

Have you tried to question the company that made/designed the program as to a fix??

Thanks for your help lurkswithin I have tried I thought everything. I tried to uninstall and reinstall and nothing. I never even get to a place to ask for a password. As soon as I click on it that error message pops up. do have another external harddrive on the computer. Maybe I will try and install it there. I did send an e-mail to the company I got it from and so far have not gotten an answer. Are there any other DVD lock programs that you would recommend? I do work for a local Funeral Home and they asked if I could make the DVD's I make for them so they can't be copied and this is what I am trying to do.

I think you are wasting your time (and company money) trying to copy protect cd's / dvd's, everybody and their dog has the software to rip them nowadays...

Edit: I think from what you said in the first post, that this is for a funeral home that records the funeral service to disk for the bereaved family. If this is the software in question, all it will do if you manage to install it, it is to lock the drives on the company computers it is installed on. It will not stop the end user of the cd/dvd watching or making more copies of it at home...

It is not my idea but the company. SOOOO I am doing it.

As I said before that software will not do what you want it to do. All it will do is lock the host drives...

The software you're looking at won't protect a DVD, only access rights for devices on your computer.

You want something more along the lines of this.
Macrovision RipGuard-MOD™: Protecting DVD Content Owners from Consumer Piracy

While that will protect casual copying, it won't protect if from a more tech savvy user. It can't be made 100% compatible AND 100% copy proof.

What are you using to author DVD's? Some software has it built in, or can be added.

There are other possibilities from what I am understanding what is the point.

If you are providing a video of the funeral proceedings so that it can be purchased.

Copyrighting is about all that you can do for after the fact....but before the actual sale of the disc you can protect the theft of the material by spoofing as with a transparent layer over the videos or pictures....this stops people from clicking and "saving as" as all they get is the top layer which is shown as a blank page after trying to copy.

Another option is to implant an embedded water mark that obscures some of the frames/pictures......these you hand out and if the customer likes it they have to buy to get a clear picture (no watermark). There are some great 3rd party programs that will do this without any problems....It is what proffessional photographers use to protect themselves from theft of services.

The last option is to not sell DVD's but to use a photo hosting service that requires a private login....the video is played upon the computer but cannot be captured through any run of the meal capturing programs....takes special capturing programs that are too expensive to warant the buying to use to steal the video!

Thank you all for your help with this. I talked to the Funeral home today and they are going to get something to take care of this for me. I am really not that computer Savvy to figure some of this out. Even the last reply from you guys telling me I would begin to know how to do.
