Default blue screen during xp install

hey folks, we have bought new computers at work and we have to either remove vista or add xp in order to run our business software.

1st: with vista up and running it will not run the xp setup files due to compatibility issues. is there a way around this?

2nd: if we boot with the xp disk in we get a blue screen error just after the disk loads the inital files and is tring to move on to the installation screen. the disk is ok and will work in any other computer not running vista.

any help would be great!

Why not run Win XP from a Virtual Machine in Vista till you upgrade your business software to Vista compatible versions, saves a hell of a lot of pig rooting around.

Here's the link for Vitual PC from Microsoft which is free product...

Default blue screen blues are gone

hey all, we finally got rid of vista and put xp on all the new systems. as it turned out the method for fixing everything was different for each computer manufacturer but we fought thru it and got it done. thanks for all your help and ideals. the blue screen error on that one unit turned out to be because of the sata driver mode. we had to change it in the bios and then install the proper driver during the xp install proccess.

Looks like vista is keeping a grip on your system and I think you should try to install dos 7.1, I had the same problem so I looked it up on syschat and downloaded it. I recommend you burn a dos-7.1 image to a cd-rw and use BBS to boot form it. Then use fdisk /x to remove partitions and install xp. I would be carefull though, xp pro doesn't support this config well but xp home couldn't work better with it. I do suspect though that if you have a late version os sp2 or better you should be fine.
