Default Arrangement of Multiple Display frustrated

I have added an output-to-TV to the dual monitor setup I used to have. But if the TV is not on and connected, I seem unable to keep the TV to the left of the Primary Monitor in the diagramatic arrangement in Settings of Display in Control Panel. Can that be remedied ?

Hello, what software are you using for the dual monitor arrangement?

The drivers for a Radion ATI 7000 video card - dual monitor plus SVideo
and for Matrox Mystique dual monitor; since I could not get satisfaction with only one card.

Which card are you using that's causing the problem?

Is everything ok when you turn the TV is on?

Is there a reason why you need to keep it on the left when you're not using it.
Or is it just because you have to keep going to the control panel when you decide to use the TV aswell?

I use two cards - a Radeon ATI 7000 and Matrox Mystique - both dual video cards, but the TV comes from the SVideo socket of the Radeon.
The 'icon' stays where I want it (to the left of the others) when the TV is on.
The reason you gave is the one that motivates me.

The only thing I can suggest is as your current control panel only operates while both monitors are on, is to try some different dual monitor software.

Dual Monitor Software, Auto Mouse Click, Auto Clicker, Mouse Mover Utility

This is just an example, browse around enough and you'll probably find something that will work.

regards

Martin

I think there is a misunderstanding. I expect the monitors to be both on. That is not an issue. It is when the TV is not connected or is off, that the TV icon moves to the right of the other two monitors, whereas is it located on their left.

It turns out that the problem is solved by having the SVideo cable connected between the TV and the PC - even if the TV is not on.
