that's a new one on me, my problem is usually getting the jumpers to come off. If you have the time, FireFox's suggestion is the most efficient, you won't hurt anything by connecting the wrong pins, the only thing you may have is nothing happen,lol, thus you have chosen wrong.
There should not be 'that' many places for a jumper to go, there are are only at a maximum i would say 5 or 6 sets of pins that could be left uncovered, so if it really is a jumpre issue then it sholud be solved in an hour or so.
If this does not work (and i'm imagining it won't, as i've never heard of a jumper controlling I/O ports, those are usually hard wired) then you'll have to bite the bullet and take it in for repairs.
