Browser Firefox Update your browser...

Ok so my son likes to pull down my keyboard and press all the buttons. Now when I open pages in Firefox quite alot of them ask me to update my browser to the newset version. I am running FF ver 2.0.0.2 (the latest one).

He has done something to some setting somewhere and it is hiding the browser info from the sites and they are seeing my browser as Netscape 4.0. I have looked at all the settings in FF itself and still no joy, I have even been into the code so see if it is this that is hiding the info so it must be something in Windows...

Any ideas?

Hey FF,
Version 2.0.0.2? Interesting, I thought that the latest (non-pre) version was 2.0.0.1... may be using a pre release (I think.. not sure if you are using that or not..) might be a part of the problem?

Not sure what it is but anyways what does general.useragent.extra.firefox say? You probably checked all that, but I'm just curious. Oh and by the way you don't happen to have the useragent extension installed, which might have accidentally changed the useragent or something.. or may be its the websites themselves?

Browser Firefox

It is ver 2.0.0.1 sorry I was a little rushed when I wrote the post.

I have checked my about:config and all looks ok. I have started my FF with no add-ons loaded so I know it is not any of those but still the problem persists. All my useragent settings in FF itself are set to default and I dont use a user agent switcher. And finally I know it isnt the websites because they are sites like eBay and my friends with FF ver 2 have no problems and this problem for me is very recent (since my son have started playing with my keyboard)

[EDIT:] OK I got it sorted, wasn't anything to do with my browser. He had somehow turned my firewall to Stealth browsing mode. Well at least I know for next time.
