don't know about the virus, but to get your folders back do as such:
hidden files use a +h attribute and system files use teh +s, this is besides the point, to return hidden files to view:
open regedit and find the key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\
Advanced

set it's value to 1 to see hidden files, set it to 2 to hide these files.
-You may need to restart for it to take effect.

Hey dream_hunt... this might sound stupid (infact it might even be stupid...) because I don't have ME or 98 along with me right now, but the 'Folder Options...' window appears under the 'Tools' section on the menubar and not the view section. Also I do believe that you do need admin rights to access this... and if you do then you can easily do Tools > Folder Options... > View Tab > Unhide stuff...

Sorry if this is different in ME... because I have no way of finding out.

Can you tell me what is regadit and where can I find it?
I have this problem too because of some virus which my McAfee cannot detect.

Sami, I did as you said but it say:
"Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator"
I don't know how to get it back. Can yu help me again please?

nimeshmpatel, I try bitdefender just a week ago and I did get rid of some virus but I got a bunch of spyware and some of my program were rendered useless so I remove it.
I send a virus sample to McAfee Avert lab but I did get a respond more than a week now which is very unusual (I used to do that before and get respond fairly quick). Does any one know what happen to McAfee just now?
