The Mighty Paper Clip

What do you do when your CD or DVD gets hungry and “eats” your disk? No matter how many times you press the open button, it won’t budge. Here is a handy tip for you to be able to open your drive and get back your CD. All you need to have is one heavy-duty paperclip. First, unfold the paperclip until you have 1-2 inches of straight wire. Check your CD drive for a small pinhole either on top or beneath the bay door. Insert the paperclip into the pinhole. Behind the pinhole is a small gear that when rotated, will manual open the drive. Maneuver the paperclip until you get a hold of the gear and the drive bay. Pull slowly on the drive bay until it is fully retracted. Remove the CD or DVD. Push back the drive bay to close it. and you are done.
