Default security cameras won't work on vista, but will on xp

the capture card was designed for xp, but my new computer came with vista. the card maker said all i can do is buy a new capture card, but the cost is exspensive. any way of getting around this??

Maybe sometime in the future there will be a decent compatability program that will allow XP hardware to work in Vista machine...but not at this time that I am aware of.

One option would be to lose the vista and install XP to the new computer...dual booting will probably cause major conflicts as there are no drivers for the capture card for vista and as such every time you tried to boot to vista with the card installed you would have issues.....

There is an off chance that someone took it upon themselves and redesigned the old xp driver to work in vista....(this happens all the time). Join the manufacturer's forum if they have one and check in there for one. You can also try to locate one in a drivers forums as well but some of these forums cost to join and there are no guarantees.

Default camera conflict

thanks for the helpful advice. i am reaaly scared of swithching back to xp. i am the type that would screw something up doing it. and loose everything. i am looking at the option of buying a used coputer to just run my security cameras on. i will check in the forums though to see if anyone has worked on this problem. thanks
