Default html editor

Could you please recommend a 'free' htmal editor.

I write on Note Pad. I like to know if the links are working well
before I post them in a blog or submit an article.

I do not have Office Word in my system. After much search and toil
I have got the Live Writer. Does this Writer thing edit html code ?

I read that an html code editor will show up the errors of omission and commission.

Please help me,
ben aloysius

Someone in another thread suggested Notepad++ , It's good and a popular free one. Also you can try NVU it has a built in FTP client.
No reason you can't try them both and use the one that's most comfortable for you.

There's a lot of free html editors , here's a couple I Googled up a long tome ago.

Front Page Express it is old but it does the job and it is easy for those learning html as it's WYSIWYG. Front Page Express

NVU is a little more advanced. NVU

1st Page 2000 this is more advanced. Evrsoft 1st Page 2000. The world's free HTML editor.

I have used these three apps myself, and I recommend them to those new to learning html...

Default Free Html Editor

Thank you very much. A special thank to SnM who always responds with a positive suggestion.
I was in search of an html editor to test the links that I write in my blog postings.
Three or four of you, including SnM suggested four or five free html editor programs. I tried each of them. They are all heavy equipments. Have uninstalled all of them.
As I told you I write in Note Pad and when I paste the script on to the 'hotmail' email sending page my links turn blue if they are written corectly. Then I erase the message and get on with the work in hand.
Thank you all so much, I have found the solution.

Default Solution: An alternative to Html Editor

hey Wombat, come on man, the solution is in my answer posted above.
Ok, let me clarify it, for as you say, another would benefit.
Now, my problem was :

I try to insert links when I write on my Note Pad to be posted on my blog sites. I got rid of Office Word from my Laptop to save space. Now, i do not know if my links are working or broken down like me. So, got the idea that i may test the links in an html editor. The 4 or 5 html editors i was advised to try were all so high-tech cases i might have conked through old age before i studied and learnt to make use of them.
Another bright spark, not of mine, told me to try the 'email writing window' of the hotmail, that i normally use.
So, i wrote a posting with a link in it on Note Pad and pasted it on hotmail email window.
My link turned 'blue' . . . it's working . . . felt like running down the steps [from my room] naked yelling 'eureka' . . . quite a good discovery . . . for a stupid layman like me.

There you are, Sir, a simple solution for a complex problem.
Oh, by the way, have uninstalled all the html editors and my 'free' space is back to its normalacy of 1.72 GB.
