Default Help!!! I lost my photos

Hello I have never been on a site like this so please be patient.
I had anew cpu put in my computer last week and when I got it home I had to reload XP. When I did that I wiped out my hard drive with all of my photos. I went to my external back up hard drive and it wouls not work. I put in a cd that came with that drive. It asked if I wanted to activate that drive by partition and format. Like an idiot I clicked OK.
Does anyone know if I can recover the photos? I should have let my son done it.

Windows Recover data from fromated hardisk.

Hi bro, i ve understood your problem, according to formating the Harddisk, it wont delete the data in the harddisk, it only deletes the address for those data. until you store some other data in the same partition you can able to retrieve that specific data. retrieving process can be done with the help of some recovering softwares that are available free in internet. for example Recover.My.Files is a good software according to me. i ve retrived almost 75% of data with the help of this software. i hope this may help you.
