Hi Rom

One thing is for sure, your computer and UBS flash drive is infected with a virus/worm

General idea of what I suggest we will be doing is:

I suggest you work on your computer first – lets have it cleaned of any virus/worm, and then tightly protected with an updated antivirus. Afterwards, you can then plug your ubs flash drive to the computer and format/clean the flash drive. The next concern is of course when you use the usb flash drive on other computers – they may be infected with a similar virus. In this case, we will depend on the antivirus software and programs that we will be installing.

Step by Step:
ANTIVIRUS
1. Update your antivirus and do a full system scan.
2. If you do not have any antivirus/ or it is outdated and needs to purchase a new license.. consider getting free antivirus alternative for now – I suggest AVAST Antivirus. Download Avast from here avast! Free Antivirus - Download Software for Virus Protection
Run a full system scan with Avast. Allow it heal or delete any infected files.

HIJACKTHIS LOG
The second section is that we need to double check if any traces of the virus remain (whether or not it has been completely cleaned by the previous antivirus scan)

Download and run the stable version - HiJackThis 2.0.4
direct download link - http://www.trendmicro.com/ftp/produc...HijackThis.exe

Remember where you save the downloaded .exe file
Run HiJackThis and select the option Do a system scan and save a logfile

Retrieve the log file from the same folder that contains the original HiJackThis exe file

Post the HiJackThis log on this thread. We can help you check the resulting entries of the HiJackThis Log when you post it here. If there are any suspicious entries, we can help you research and then suggest which possibly unsafe entries are to delete and disable.

MALWARE BYTES

While we may take some time to review the HiJackThis Log that you will post in here, its also a good idea to download and install Malwarebytes – a free and trustworthy malware scanner.

Direct download link to Malwarebytes
Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a free download that removes viruses and malware from your computer

The default installation options of Malwarebytes is good. Just finish the installation, update the antispyware/malware knowledge database of Malwarebytes, and then do a full system scan and remove any detected malware.

=====================

A complete scan with a fully updated antivirus AND malwarebytes is most likely going to rid of the virus on your computer. The HiJackThis Log will be an additional check for any traces left by the virus.

Take note, that when your computer is now free from the virus, you still need to check the other computers that they are also clean and not infected.

If you are using Windows XP, it is an important safety measure to open USB flash drives by RIGHT-CLICKING on the flash drive and then choosing EXPLORE. Doing this prevents any virus from automatically attaching itself to the flash drive or the computer.
