Laptop Optimum RAM needed for Laptop

I have added 1 Gb to 512 Mb installed originally. There is improvement. How much memory do I need for my HP Compaq Laptop? Will there be further improvement? I have Windows Vista Business OS and Office 2007.

for laptops....I would max out the ram, especially with Vista installed as it requires a lot just to keep the pretty pages loading!
