Default No sound in winXP SP3

Okay here we go.....Had sound then when trying to do a test video capture
with new software (Amcap.en.softonic.com) with this I had to install Java update 11 then during play back noticed no sound from captured video checked for any sound from computer and all sound is dead....tried to rollback sound driver...nothing, tried to update driver from Dell (have a dimension e310) loaded it and installed but now noticed several sound drivers in device manager....ran DXDiag, results are below:

Music Tab: No problems found.
Input Tab: No problems found.
Network Tab: No problems found.

Also, I go to Control panel>sound and audio devices....I see "no audio device"!

Then I uninstalled both the Amcap and Jave downloads tried again....no sound.

Device manager shows all drivers enable and working properly yet still shows "no audio device" and
no sound from system or videos.

Update.....I just completed a repair reinstall of WinXP......still no sound!!!!!!!!

Need help...no sound card as mine is intergated on motherboard. HELP??????

In the device manager.....use the driver tab on the sound drivers and uninstall ALL sound driver files...Then reboot and let windows try to reinstall the drivers....If there is no driver files in the device manager then use the downloaded drivers from the motherboard/manufacturer's website and reinstall them.

Default I did it!!!

Well, since my last post, I continued to dig into my problem. Decided to do
a repair reinstall of WinXP and reload my drivers. It worked. Your way would
have been much faster, but since I am too impatient for a reply, I did my way. Thanks for your post, I have learned alot thru this....windows has a way
of continuing your education, LOL !

Glad it worked out for you!

FYI...there is an odd glitch in XP concerning sound drivers that pops up once in a while. No matter what you try in replacing the drivers they just will not work properly and the sound comes in as scratchy or skipping. The only way to fix/repair is to do a repair installation of XP.
