Question Sound Issues

In my system i did have sound blaster thingy (cant remeber the name sorry) but it was playing up so i removed it and uninstalled its software and then just swapped to onboard sound. Since i did this, my sound has been up and down.
Through speakers i cant turn the volume up very loud, yet on a headset its great and goes very loud.
I use ventrillo or team speak and msn voice chat and on there i always sound very soft. All settings are maxed yet people cant hear me very well and say im so quiet..
Is this because im on board sound or is it software and are there any tests to perform to check, or should i just reformat?

what do you mean by
playing up
The headset working, probably isn't getting any louder, the speakers are just closer to your ear in that case, and thus it seems louder.
As for msn, that issue is with the other side as well. Your volume being low, does not affect what others hear, I have noticed that the maximum volume for msn is not all that high in general.
Also to fix the problem, the cd which comes with your motherboard should have drivers or software related to your onboard sound, or i would encourage you to re-install your sound card. I doubt that the onboard sound could ever be better then your card

Umm i dont think i explained myself very good im sorry.
Heres what i meant, hopefully it will come out right this time.

If i listen to music through a headset, yep sound is fine in my ears. The volume goes up very high.
As soon as i swap the head et for the speakers the volume of the music even though all settings are maxed , well the volume then coming out is super low. Its not a fault with the speakers as i have tested them with another pc, it only happens on my pc.

As for what i mean with MSN and ventrillo, my outbound voice volume is set to max, so i should sound very loud to people but i dont, since this onboard sound changed my voice is very low and people cant hear me very well even though my outbound settings are maxed.

As for drivers , they have all been updated, ive checked for hardware clashes or conflicts and much more but nothing seems to be working...maybe im destined to have poor sound forever...

Found out tonight by uninstalling the wrong thing that im stuck with CMI audio config for my sound to work which is really doing my head in as the settings on that are crap..
