I have a vaio bought in japan (VGN-FE53B/W). i converted the os to english at a computer store. they added the drivers but the webcam doesn't work. when i open the yahoo messenger the green light by the eye comes on but the cam screen is black. in the device manager it says the driver is there, sony visual communications camera VGP-VCC6, and running properly. it has an option to update or roll back the driver. should i do one of these things? is this the right driver?

The webcam when installed should have put itself in program files....start > all programs > whatever web cam you have.

open the web cam from there and see if you get a viewing on your desktop. If you do then the problem lies with yahoo and not the webcam. If you do not get a viewing on your desktop then there is either something on your computer blocking it or it is installed wrong!

Yea, there's nothing in the programs list so I guess it's installed wrong?
Any opinion if rolling back the version will help? A computer store
found the driver on the japanese sony esupport so I don't even think
i can find it myself to install again. Any other options?

This is the driver that is needed and i believe it has the software as well.

I installed that driver but it didn't seem to have any effect!
any other ideas? this is driving me crazy

Most webcqms use their own software to operate the camera. Are you just trying to install the driver and not the software as well?
Did you try to uninstall the other driver first?

You need to find out where it was that you installed the camera to. Have you checked the control panel > scanners and cameras

Yea, I erased the old one and downloaded the driver you mentioned.
The webcam is built in so I figured the software was there but maybe
it was lost when my OS was wiped to convert to English. Any idea
where I can download that? The camera shows up nowhere in the
control panel.
