Ok here goes. I have never had anything like thi happen to a computer before so please bear with me as I try to explain. My computer is older, I know I need to invest in a new one but I'm also cheap. My daughter wanted AIM on the computer. So I downloaded it. about 2 weeks later my computer started loosing some of its memory. like my homepage or even all of my info to outlook express. So I would have to restart my computer and my info would be back in place for my email. So about a week of this craziness. One night my email, weatherbug and aim would no longer work. the email would say

"The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.insightbb.com', Server: 'localhost', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"

but weatherbug and aim would not respond at all!!
So I restored my stystem and downloaded aim back but not weather bug.

this has been 2 weeks. now Aim wont come up again and my email is back to saying the previous message. can someone please help me. All of my other programs work fine.
Sincerely
JBare

The error code 0x800CCC0E means the client connects to a port that is blocked or unavailable on the mail server. If the client is trying to send a message, the blocked port is 25, and if the client is trying to retrieve a message, the blocked port is 110. Refer to the error message for the protocol and port numbers.

For a more detailed explaination, you may refer to the microsoft help page :You receive a "Socket error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800ccc0e" error message when you try to send or receive e-mail in Outlook or in Outlook Express

As for AIM, the two may be connecting to the same port. You may want to try and ask your ISP if ever they made some changes with your connection. Either they are working on something or something may be already causing the problem that they are not aware of. But often it's the later that's causing the errors.
