How to create a system image to restore the system settings in Windows 7

Let us start by understanding what is a system image and what is the use of it. System image means to create an image of the windows to use it for back up. Imagine that you are installing some freeware which changes your registry files and at some point later you may want to revert it back then the system image can help you doing that.

By creating the system image you are actually creating a duplicate of Windows, to use it for backup processes. The following steps will guide you to create a system image.

Step 1: Click on start and select control panel.

Step 2: Select back up and restore.

Step 3: Click on the create image link present in the left pane.

Step 4: Select the option of where you want to create the image (high capacity flash drives, external hard drives and dvd’s can be used).

Step 5: Next screen which display you the memory that it needs for eg: “The backup could take up to 20 gb” which approximately takes 40 mins.

Step 6: After the backup is created it you prompt you to create a system repair disk. It is good to create one.

Now you have successfully created a system image and you can use it at any point in the future when some thing goes wrong.
