Hard disk not detected

Hello....

My dell laptop is of vostro model 1400 series is been with me 2 years.... recently i found that my hard disk is not detected by any windows OS when i tried to install the OS it's saying like....

Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer

But when i tried to install windows xp black edition downloaded by torrent i'm not getting such error i could format and install black edition but i can't install the actual OS Please help me soon....
