Pc Blue XP restart problem

I have XP Home edition. Every time I start up XP, 7 mins(exact) later, the computer restarts and it does the same over and over. I already unchecked the box that says, "restart windows if errors occur." I scaned the system for viruses and checked the reg but it still restarts. After it restarted, XP said that Windows encountered an error. After it displays that, the screen goes blue and it says that windows encountered an error and needs to restart. I already tried system restore and it dosen't fix the problem. HELP!!!

what you have is BSoD. Blue Screen of Death. its a windows reaction to an illegal operation probably malware or a virus. you can download a debugger from microsoft or wipe the Hdd and reinstall which would be easier. hope this helps

a format should (for the common user) be a last resort, a techy would rather try and solve the problem and restore the computer.

try a restore point back a ridiculous time back and see what happens. Also try and stop all processes on startup, it could be a memory issue (RAM) and a certain # of programs running eventually uses the corrupt location.
Or a specific program places values into the corrupt location after running a certain length of time.
*see what happens in a few different scenarios and try and find any small consistency that may point to a hardware issue.
