Unhappy WINDOWS/HIMEM/SYS File is missing


I have a laptop which is is installed windoes98, The thing is it was working just fine until the other day when i switched it off and when i tried to switch it on again, It said that WINDOWS/HIMEM/SYS File is missing and the other 2 files that i forgot their names. I have another computer that it is installed Windows XP, The problem is that when i switch it on it says Boot failure, Insert a diskett in A and press any kes when ready. I tried to install Windows XP for serverall times but it keeps on displaying that massage.Please help.I dont know much about computers.

Go here for the HIMEM.SYS is missing problem.

Error Message: The File C:\Windows\Himem.sys Is Missing or Corrupted

I do not understand your Win XP query, please be a bit more concise...
