Increased size of PST file results in PST file corruption. Outlook PST file has some size limitations. If it crosses the size limit, chances of corruption is quite high. When corruption occurs, it ruins the whole Outlook application. E-mail client refuses to start, and if by chance you are successful to open it. It start displaying number of error messages for you. These error messages and effects of corruption can be overcome if you have a backup in your PC. But if you do not have a backup, then go for a Outlook PST repair tool to repair PST file so that you are able to work easily with Outlook application.

Consider a practical scenario, suppose you access MS-Outlook 2007 for sending or receiving business mails. On one day, when you open it, to send one important mail. You fail to open it, and gets an error message that says exactly like this:

“The file drive:\path\file_name.pst could not be found.”

After getting error message, when you press OK button. MS-Outlook shows you Create/Open Personal Folders File dialog box.

Cause:

Above error message is viewed in the following situations:

1. If your PST file that is giving you problem, that is located on a server, and server is unavailable.
2. Another reason may be, corruption of Outlook PST file. Because Outlook do not find the corrupt Outlook PST file.

Resolution:


Resolution steps are discussed as per the cause discussed above:
• If server is unavailable, then contact your system administrator.
• For fixing PST file corruption issue, use Outlook inbox repair tool. Follow the below steps:
1. Point to Start >> Find, and >> Files Or Folders.
2. Enter Scanpst.exe in named box and select Find Now or search as per your operating system.
3. Open the Scanpst.exe file by clicking two times.
4. Type the name of the corrupt PST file, or use Browse option.
5. Select Start.


Note: If you repair a file known as Mailbox.pst, the log file will be named as Mailbox.log.

For better results, go for a third party Outlook PST repair software. These tools are meant only to repair PST file that is corrupt on their own. You do not to do extra efforts for it.
