Default Where's my cd rom drive?

When I try to save pictures to my D:/ drive, which is my cd drive, I get an error message that D:/ is inaccessible. Why can't my computer find my cd drive?

Right mouse click on My Computer icon, select Manage. In the new window on the left hand side select Disk Management, is your D: drive listed there?

You did have a cdr in the drive, check that out.

The ide cable could be cactus, check that out.

You do not say what cd burning software you are using. If you are using the inbuilt M$ burning app try another as that is crap, there are plenty of good freeware version available...

My cd drive is not listed under Disk Management. I use Roxio or Window Media to burn cds, but I'm only trying to save my photos to a cd. Where is my D: drive?

Did you check the ide cable to make sure it is connected properly?

Another thing you could try is go to the Device Manager and see if it is listed in there, and if it has + next to it. If so, then uninstall the drivers for the device and reboot. Windows will pick up the cd drive and then install the drivers for it...
