As the topic says, what is your favorite programming / coding

language that you usually are using when you are programming stuff?

Mine is C++ :P

Default That's a good Question

When i began programming i would have said vb, for it's ease of implementation, and Java definatly has some nice features with abstraction. But overall combining pointers and common keywords, C++ is probably my favorite as well.
*Though i'll never give up Java completely.

no worries, there are MANY things to do with a computer that do not involve programming, or related material. I've narrowed my sights to software and programming mostly, (because it's what i'm good at) i am reasonably informed when it comes to hardware, but that is only of my own doing, my schooling is not helping me with that at all. lol.

I'd have to go with Java as my favourite, because the main reason would be that I'm not all that familiar with C+ and C# and definately not a good in Delphi... so VB is definately easier though but, I don't seem to love it all that much.

ChatMod#1 like William says you can do a lot of things with the computer, programming is a little hard (and takes a while) so I think you should start of with something else... may be web programming? Like, JavaScript or html or PHP something like that. As far as I know it's also programming, but easier (to start off with) and that's how I got into programming.

I have professional working experience on the following:

1.) VB (This Language has sent me in Canada, to develop an automation software for our affiliate company. This is good for Rapid Application Development on windows and If you want to exploit the MFC and WIN32 libraries.

2.) C# and VB.NET with ASP.NET. This is my start of my web programming. I have done software support and development on those. C# is pretty much the same on syntax with Java, but it has different sets of libraries. VB.Net, easy as Basic Language with the power of .NET framework on your hand.

3.) Java. This is what I'm developing right now. It is an elegant and mature language. Lots of resources and open source libraries. I had made several application on this. (Servlet, applet, jni, jdbc, tester tools to name a few)

4.) SAS. Proprietary Software from SAS Institute for Business Intelligence applications. This is a good development tool for data mining and warehousing. It is a mature system to gather and do statistical reports on big data sources. I also have a project on this right now.

I like all these languages. It boils down to what kind of project you want to do. The more technologies you know, the more you know the strengths and weakness of those languages. And you have more tools at your disposal.

(FYI: I'm building my career as a Software Architect)

Maybe VB... because that's the only programming language before giving up to learn PHP and MySQL... (and I'm lazy to learn to much at one time, got school studies to manage)

Might jump in into C++ when I have times for that. Anyway, anyone here can recommend me C++ books to read?
