What Operating System sre you using? If it's XP it has a built in scanning function.
Windows XP: Use your computer to print, scan, and fax

The errors look like some files have been corrupted.
I would recommend following these steps for the second error.
Error message when you install or start an MS-DOS or 16-bit Windows-based program

Next I would run Scandisk to check the hard drive for errors.
Check for Disk Errors in Windows XP

Last, I would reinstall Norton anti virus or security program. (first error image)
