Application OS X vs. Windows

How does OS X work compared to Windows?

I am looking for a deep explanation of the operating system. The layout/how it works. Specifically I want to know how the "Force Quit" works vs. the "End Now".

Any ideas?

Cool a good start

That is a good start but it did not have the depth that I was wanting. I am looking more for the GUI/Application things that this didn't dig into much.
