Question Network for 2 desktop


Can some one advice how I can network my 2 desktop I have at home so that we can play shared P2P games ?

Details :
1) Window XP Professional SP2 ( both desktop)
2) D-Link DSL 504T
3) MBO :_1) ASUS P4PE-X
2) MSI K9N SLI PLatinium
4) Chip : 1) Intel Pentium 4
2) AMD Athlon 64 X2 +4200
5) RAM 1) 512Mb X 2
2) 1Gb X2

Do I require any hardware apart from above
specification mentioned for networking.
Pls help by telling me step by step method as I
am new to this area.

wired?--nope, sounds like you've got everything you need.

check the connectors at the back--look for something that looks like a phone jack on steroids. Those would be the jacks for ethernet (called RJ45)

one cable each goes from computer to router.

software already installed in router and each computer will automatically set up your network.

You will be needing UTP cable with RJ45 on both ends.

Connect this RJ45 on your ethernet card/lan card at the back of your desktop pc and the other end on your D-Link DSL 504T.
