Question install DOS7.1 in vmware

Hi,

I am using VMware, downloaded DOS 7.1 from this site and tried to install in order to be able to play some old DOS-games. Somehow it failed: start was promising, after tapping some times on NEXT it stated that it wanted to check partitions. These could not be found, so I followed the advise to create one automatically. After reboot it said 'invalid system disk. Replace the disk, and press any key'. It did not even find the CD anymore!
Tried to invoke virtual A: drive with the image of DOS7.1 loaded, with the same message resulting. Who can help me out?

Thanks in advance

solved my own problem: installed MSDOS 6.22 which can be found on the web. It comes with three images of floppy's. In VMware you can define a virtual floppy on the base of an image. Couple the image of the first disk to the floppy, run the setup. When it asks for the second disk just link the second image to the floppy etc. Then I installed oakcdrom.sys the same way in order to have MSDOS read CDRom's. From there DOS 7.1 can be installed.
New problem arose when configuring sound. That one I did not resolve as of yet. Who has a clue?

You will have to find a DOS driver for your sound card. Oak doen't normally install sound card drivers...those if any for your particular card will be found in the drivers files of windows and sometimes is and sometimes is not installed during set-up! But for sure they are not for DOS.

Good luck on finding one that will work for DOS for any of the newer sound cards.

Thank you Lurkswithin; unfortunately I couldn't find a driver. Solved it finally with DOSBox 0.72 and VDM Sound 210. Worked fine to me.
