ok... is it possable to use dsl/cable and still able to use windows fax service?? the desktop also has a modem.. but is it possable to us both? but the modem just for faxing?? or is there some kind of freeware out there that i can use for faxing with dsl/cable??

I don't use Windows for faxing...you can get better service from Mighty Fax, the free edition...it works off its own driver through the printer configuration alone whatever "stream" you are regularly using for internet use.

re: MS: I would imagine that there should be a selection of devices in your NetWork Connections section of the Control Panel. Muck around in there to see what's what. There should also be a selection of choices in the fax program you chose to use.

Yes you should still be able to use the modem. Just make sure there is a DSL filter on the phone line to the modem just as any other line in the house would need one.
