Default Downloading Internet Explorer 7

I am unable to download IE7 for XP service pack 2. I verify my version of XP, then down load ie7-windowsXP-86-enu. When I run the file I get a message that says: "Internet Explorer did not complete installation" Then it wants a restart and it puts a web page on my desktop to try myriad fixes. I have tried them all and have yet to get IE7 loaded. The only way I can get to IE7 is to bring Windows up in save mode with networking.

Any Ideas??????

prstndnt

Hello,
Use this link:
Release Notes for Internet Explorer 7

Look for the heading 'Installation Errors' about a quarter of the way down the page. It'll tell you what logs to look at with the details of the errors.

If you need any more help let me know.

Martin

Hello prstndst,

There seems to be a problem writing certain values to the registry of your PC. If you have any spyware installed it maybe stopping the online installation of ie7. See if you can disable it, re-boot and try again.

If this doesn't work, try re-booting your computer in 'safe mode with networking' (allows you to still connect to the internet) and logon as Administrator and try again.

To reboot in safe mode you can press F8 when the computer is booting up and you should see a list of options.

Let me know how you get on.

Martin
