Default Delete all files in My Documents

In 'My Documents' folder there are numerous files saved. These, I believe are saved in the Disk Drive. At the moment the Local Drive shows an empty space of 1.70 GB.

Suppose if I delete all the files in My Documents folder would it increase the 'free' space of the Hard Disk ?

And would this increase in 'free' space, in any way, help my laptop to function a little faster than now ?

Please let me know how to delete all the saved files in the 'My Documents' folder.

Thank you,
ben

Here's a utility to find what files are taking up room on your hard drive.
SpaceMonger - Reviews and free SpaceMonger downloads at Download.com

Also you can remove any programs you don't use from the Add/Remove programs in the control panel or from the programs Uninstall icon.

Thank you SnM, the Space Monger is ok. But it does not specify spaces of each folder for me to understand. It shows the free space clearly. However, my concern is this: If I delete the files saved in 'My Documents' folder will it increase the 'free space' in Hard Disk or Hard Drive ?
Also if I delete the pictures saved in 'My Pictures' folder, will it increase the 'free space' in the Hard Disk/Drive ?
Thank you very much Sir,
ben
