Default Computer won't open program files

Recently, my computer has started having difficulty opening program files. When I click to open, the wait icon appears and then after awhile disappears, but the program never opens. When I check the task manager it doesn't show up under applications. The program shows up when I click the processes tab, but shows no CPU usage being applied to executing the task. I always have 46 processes showing even when I first start my computer. The only process that shows it is doing anything is the "system idle process". I desperately need to get into my TurboTax program immediately. Can anyone help??? I've called Compaq's tech support and can't get an English speaking person to help.

Looks like there might be some spyware or malware on your computer,

Which operating system do you use? Did you run spyware check?

Try rebooting your computer and starting it in safemode and open the programs.

I would suggest that you run a spyware and also a malware and maybe a antivirus software on ur comp, and then most probably you'll see that there is a some of them. Then remove it as soon as possible if there.

I agree it sounds like a malicious code doing a number on your system, try this link: http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilitie...***plorer.html and download the program, the link is near the bottom of the page.
It allows you to see each process (including ones task manager doesn't see) in a tree format so you can start in a lower branch and work your way up to larger programs. (eg: svchost.exe would be listed as a branch of services.exe )
-hope this sheds some light on the issue
