Default Changing attributes

Hi, question on how to change attribute under My Documents. I've tried to change it from Properties, deselect "Read Only", looks like it took. But looking at it under Properties again, "Read Only" is still selected. I've tried under the main folder My Documents, deselected "Read Only" attribute and all the sub-folders. Right after selecting OK, open properties again, "Read Only" is selected. Tried to change it from sub-folder with same results.
I am running under XP home edition. I never had this problem when using ME. Also, I am the administrator so I have authority to change settings.

click through the cycle of checking the box and unchecking the box, this should ensure that your choice is used. Sometimes the application of removing read-only only applies to the direct subdirectory (eg folders) and not their contents, thus you would need to apply this method to each folder individually.
