can't remove spyware

Hello,
I have spyware on my computer and can't get it off. I currently have the free edition Avira-antivir personal and it automatically scans the computer every day and the the computer shuts off and shuts off the virus protection. It just started shutting off recently.I keep getting warning signs from Spyware Guard telling me I have 28 viruses and I need to get rid of them.I also tried to restore my computer to a earlier time and it wouldn't let me.
I hope this enough info.
Thanks , Linda

Spyware Guard 2008 is a new entrant to the family of rogue security software. It is not to be confused with SpywareGuard a fine freeware from Javacool software. Please note that this is not a virus but malware and/rogueware.

A rogue security software belongs to a family of software products that call themselves as antivirus, antispyware or registry cleaners and often use deceptive or high pressure sales tactics and deliberate false positives to convince users into buying a license/subscription. They are often repackaged and renamed. They do not actually remove malware instead many of them add more malware of their own.

There is only one program out there that i am aware of that can remove this rogue...it is superantispyware...and the free version will remove the malware.

SUPERAntiSpyware.com - AntiAdware. AntiSpyware. AntiMalware.

Download the program and install it...then reboot into safe mode by pressing the F8 key at boot....run the program from safe mode as it will work the best then!

can't remove spyware

I ask about removing rogue from my computer and it blocks the superantispyware.com site or any site I go to in trying to remove the this virus. HOW DO I BY PASS THIS?

In this type of case....you will have to use another computer to download the program to a cd and then install the program in safe mode!

The rogue software will likely block all known ways to remove it in the interest of self preservation. You'll need to use a friends computer.

superantispyware (not responding)

I have posted about having spyware on my computer and was told to go to a friends computer and download free superantispyware onto a cd. The next step was to go to safe mode on my pc and insert the cd. I made sure that the cd contained all the data. When I went to run the program in (safe mode) it said this edition has encountered a problem and needs to close. I tried running it out of safe mode and received the same screen. what next?

Linda,

In extreme cases such as yours, there is not a lot one can do other than try to save the personal data that you have by burning it to a CD/DVD and starting with a fresh reformat and reinstallation of your operating system.

Sometimes you can remove your harddrive and slave it to another computer and run the cleaners from that computer to the slaved drive only to remove the bad guys.

Another way is to try to manually remove the bad files from your system...this requires some expert navigational and registry editing and still maynot work as these bad guys have a way to constantly hide and regenerate themselves.

One other way is to try an online scanner like "housecall" from trendmicro or "pcpitstop" but I doubt that it will work as this thing you have has successfully blocked downloading programs to remove it and more than likely have those blocked as well.

The final option is to take it to a qualified repair shop and pay someone to do the clean-up for you.....be careful though as some of these places like "BestBuy" will charge you an arm and leg and only reformat your drive without even trying to save anything.

I reread your post here and became somewhat puzzled over the statement in red.

The only thing on that CD should have been the set-up icon. This icon should have been able to double click it and auto install from within safe mode...would you like to retry this....?

1)have your friend re-download it to his desktop the whole installation package should be just a single icon named superantispyware
2)Then send that icon to the CD burner drive and burn it to cd...
3) restart your computer and toggle the F8 key till the start-up page comes up....keep trying till it does.
4) in the start-up page choose to restart in safe mode with CD support
5) after safemode loads and you are looking at your desktop with safemode written at the 4 corners insert the cd in the drive...
6) start > right click " My Computer" in the next window select explore and then right click on the CD drive Icon and choose to open....by this time there should be a CD icon showing with the days date.
7) double click the superantispyware icon to self extract and install.
8) start the program and allow it to scan and clean the bad programs.

If there is still a problem installing the program and running it then you will have to resort to something else!
