Here is where you can download the updates manually and put them on a cd or thumb drive.

Here are instructions on how to update from a directory.

I have to ask.....

If you are not connected to the internet at home....then you do not need the antivirus program at all...so why worry about updating it?

Ahhhhhh! but the OP may have friends / rellies, that bring the occasional cdr / dvd around with the latest piece of uber L€€7 software on it that they have leeched from a p2p site.

If AVG is up todate it may save the OP from getting a virus or malware infection....

The internet is not the only way for a virus to get on your computer. Currently internet and e-mail is the most common, because it's the easiest and fastest. But they were spread around on floppy disks long before the wide use of internet we have today.
Currently there are quite a few of flash memory specific virus's that live on portable drives. flash drive virus - Google Search So there is a chance of getting a virus, but not enough of one that I would recommend a virsus scanner. Just know what you are putting into your computer and scan it at work if necessary.
