Here are several tricks with your keyboard when working on documents using Microsoft Word on either Vista or XP. It saves you the effort of highlighting the paragraph with your mouse since the alignment will be applied to the whole paragraph where the cursor is placed.    
Ctrl + L will align the paragraph on the farthest left side of the page 
Ctrl + E will align the paragraph on the center of the page.  
Ctrl + R will align the paragraph on the far right side of the page.  
Ctrl + J will align the paragraph on both ends, or justify.
