Default Windows Cannot Find any Network

My Acer Extensa with Vista Home Basic on dial up connection with MWorks modem of 7.2 Mbps worked well.
But now from Start > Connect To > is done it says ''Windows could not find any Network''.
Please tell me how to rectify this annoying situation.
