Default Unwanted icons on desk top

Each time my computer boots about 30 unwanted icons appear on the desk top. Example "banner.ico" and "xxx.wav" icons. I delete them and empty the waste basket and the next time I boot they return. I have scanned for virus' and other problems but find nothing that is caught in the scan. Any suggestions of how to get rid of them. Since they make no sense I presume they are someones idea of a joke.

Regards jjtotten

Sounds like you have something running at start up that is reinstalling these items. A virus or sypware. Try installing the following Anti-Spyware programs, boot into safe mode and run them.
The home of Spybot-S&D!
Ad-Aware 2007 Free - Lavasoft

If that doesn't take care of it you may need to find them manualy with a process scanner type of software. I would try this next.
HijackThis
Merijn.org
There are plenty of places to help with the results of HijackThis too.
