The Details Pane is located at the bottom of the Windows explorer which gives you extra information on the file or folder that are currently selected. When you select a specific file, it will give you the filename, size, type, date created, date modified and the time where it was modified. Hence when you select a folder, it will give you the name of the folder, number of files that it contains, and the date where it was last modified.

For graphic files and Excel workbook files, Vista will automatically displays a tiny thumbnail of the image or initial worksheet on the left side of the Details pane. With the Details pane, you can add tags and edit keywords for that corresponding file or folder. To do this, just click the file icon in Windows Explorer to select it, simply position your mouse pointer over the category in the Details pane and when an outline appears around the current entry and the pointer becomes an I-beam shape, click the insertion point in the field and then type the new tag or keyword or edit its contents.

After adding or editing the tag, just click the Save button. In addition to the Details pane, you can also rate your music or graphic files between one and five stars by clicking the star (from left to right) that represents the highest star you want to give it...
