Default Remove Vista and Reinstall XP

I have Vista Ultimate installed on my computer. I have found many of the application I use frequently are not compatible with Vista. I need to completely delete Vista off my system and want to restall XP. I do not have a floppy drive on my computer so I couldn't use the boot disk for XP. I have found some articles on removing Vista but each time when the CD drive started loading up, Vista appears. Please help.

Sounds like the CD drive is not set to forst boot device.
Enter BIOS setup when you boot computer. (hit DEL, F12, whatever key your system says, hit ".." to setup)
Check that the CD drive is first in boot order, under the boot options menu.
Save and restart with Win XP disc in the drive. You shuld now see a brief message hit any key to boot to CD...
This should get the Win XP setup disc booted, where you can format (erase, choose NTFS) the drive and install XP.

thanks for replying. yes the bios is set to boot from cd. That didn't work because once the cd started to spin, Vista started loading.

trouble Return to XP

I had XP Home on my laptop but I upgraded to Vista and I'm having compatibility issues... I want to go back to XP but since it came with my laptop, I don't have a CD or anything for it. Is there a way to go back to my original OS without the CD?
