can i get winzip or winace for free?? trying to find a program to open a RAR file.. thanks.

winzip is not a freeware, but you can use izarc which is a freeware and can unarchive rar files

I may be delusional, but I don't think that I have ever had to pay for WinZip and have used it for years. The only difference between the non-pay and the pay versions, that I have encountered, is the annoyance of having the response command switching on you, each time you cmd it to unzip something. So, if you are caught day-dreaming you may cmd it to order you the pay version, rather than unzipping your file.

WinRAR seems to be the zipper of choice for a lot of programs these days...give it a try.
