Thumbs up Question Regarding Registry

Hey guys, i'm pretty sure that there are errors in my registry, this is because i cannot seem to install a few programs that i had uninstalled before. Is there any way i can fix the registry completely, and make it as new as possible? Thanks for any feedback.

format and re-install windows, but i'm assuming you're trying to avoid that. It's tough to say, most programs (including those listed in many places on this site - which noting your activity you've probably seen) if they are unsure, will leave a registry key, if a key that is needed is removed the program associated with it may not work.
What kind of programs are you trying to install and what exactly is the problem (eg: nothign happens, wrong installer runs, program has old values?)

Have you used any of those registry cleaner programs? I have only tried one once and it caused me all kinds of problems. Personally I would do a seek and destroy on entries related to the program I am trying to work with... Just make sure to back up the registry first.

William i had Zone Alarm Pro in my comp, then i uninstalled it, and now i would like to put it back on, but i can't. Everytime i start and put all of my details in, the error message from windows comes up, and i submit it. I think there are missing files or something in my comp.

I'm not actually sure those messagse go anywhere, but who knows.
As far as your computer.. it sounds like you may have missing or corrupt files, considering the number of issues you have. You may want to consider re-installing windows.
You could always try looking up how to install a new copy of your install shield, that may fix the installation problem.

I think it has got to do with the registry or system32, ecause i had a virus problem which deleted a lot of files from system32, and from then it never worked. Is there any way to find out which all files like TrueVector Service and so on are missing?
