Default Program can't find DirectX9

I recently installed Total War: Rome on my laptop. When I attempt to run the program, it tells me that it can't find DirectX 9.0. However, I can see it on my computer.

Can any hazard a guess at why I can'y get Rome to operate?

Tim

I do not play games, so here's what I would do if I did.

Go here to the TotalWar support site here.

The games forum is here...
