Error power surge on hub port


Dear all

i have hp nx 6110 laptop with xp sp2.

i am facing the problem power surge on hub port and this msg continously coming in the system try. i also cannot operate pen drive, external harddisk or usb modem for long time.

pls help me.

I think this is what you mean. Go here and read this KB from Microsoft and do what they suggest.

Error message when you wake up a Windows XP-based computer from hibernation or from standby: "Power Surge on Hub Port: A USB Device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port"

You also may have to many USB devices plugged in, and that's what could also be causing the problem...

There has always been an issue with windows xp and hibernation program. This is another one of the issues. Another work around is to disable the hibernation availability.
start > control panel > power options > hibernate tab and un-check the hibenate box.

Microsofts' fix is to leave the USB 2.0 disabled indefinately...the work around this is to go into device manager and uninstall the USB controller driver...reboot...let windows re-install the drivers and then reboot again...you might need to visit windowsw update for a newer USB 2.0 driver.
