Pc Blue Outlook Express 6.0 freezes

Recently when I attempted to add a signature to outgoing messages in Outlook Express 6.0, the computer freezes when I click on the Signatures tab. I get a "send error report" message, and then a message about Dr.Watson debugger problem. The I have to use Control/Alt/Delete to end process. Have tried over and over, and have done everything possible with Microsoft support (No help at all!!), Google searches, downloading system diagnostics, etc. One scan tells me that I have several connections in Outlook Express not working, but I can send and receive mail ok. Have considered uninstalling and reinstalling O.E. but do not have the nerve. I must have done something to cause this, but hesitate to use system restore. Does anyone have any ideas? Would greatly appreciate any help.
