Default Oh boy...what to do...??

Ok I know that WinME is terrible, but for now I am just plain stuck with it.

I have an IBM Netvista PC with 20GB HD and 128MB...Celeron processor. It was a "gift" I got after graduating with honors from a Distance Education course. Unfortunately, I receoved absolutely no installation disks with it for the software that was pre-installed, not even a Windows ME disk. So, that takes me to the heart of my troubles:

I turned on the PC this AM to find the display all mucked up (I cannot adjust settings to anything but 16 color). Also, no mouse pointer and no mouse response...as well, I have no sound, not even the little volume icon in the system tray anymore. Only clues I have are that the mouse works just fine in Safe Mode, and that in the device manager, the mouse shows and error which says that the "vmouse.vxd file is missing" and that I can try to repair it by extracting the file from the Windows setup disk. (which I do not have).

If any of you have ANY ideas...I am wide open to suggestions. Any suggestions that is, other than to get a different OS! LOL My choices are limited to ME for now. Appreciate any time you have to devote to my troubles. Thanks.

If you have the model number, you can go to www.ibm.com. Maybe you can find all the drivers you need there. Good luck.
