Monitor Error Laptop will not connect to wireless network

Hi everyone (this is my official hello and first post )
I have a laptop that has suddenly stopped connecting to to the wireless network. The wireless network is controlled by various wireless access points around the building. Other laptops connect fine (currently on a tosh a210) yet this laptop has suddenly stopped connecting (the user assures me it did work fine). It is an RM lappy that's a fair few years old and has an in built nic with windows (xp pro) controlling it's wireless activity.I have tried removing the wireless network from it and adding it manually but no good.
I have checked the access point's setting it tries to connect to and all seems in order, I've tried changing the channel but no good so put it back to auto and have checked no-one had messed around with the encryption.
Any ideas would be very much appreciated
Thanks

Dave (!)

Does it show to be enabled in device manager or is there a question mark or exclamation point showing on the built in NIC card?

In device manager and everything shows as to be right on the network adapter then it could be a winsock error....which can happen by spyware/malware or just naturally.

Make sure the lappy is clean from any malware/spyware/viruses first as some nasties deliberty attack the winsock to prevent the downloading of programs to remove the bad guys....like self presevation LOL!

download the LSPfix exe file and run it and it will repair the winsock if it is damaged!

LSP-Fix - a free program to repair damaged Winsock 2 stacks

If everything is ok after all this then remove the auto sign on and redo the wizard to find the signal that you wish to connect to. Besure to know the encryption if there is one!
